Mizuno created the ST-Z 220 driver with a high-strength face that is more flexible and features a fine-grain structure to hold up for strong, powerful distance. The multi-thickness CORTECH face boosts ball speed near the legal limit all over the club face. Made from beta titanium, the face is stronger and more flexible to allow for an overall thinner face and more spring-back for explosive impact.

A new stainless steel weight below the sole surface is placed in the extreme rear and center of the head to deliver a huge boost in forgiveness without sacrificing spin performance.
In the ST-Z 220 driver, the center of gravity is located further back in the head along the neutral Z-axis to increase launch stability, particularly on high and low impact. Its 460cc head volume is pushed slightly lower to the ground for higher launch and low-to-mid spin performance, lining up square to slightly open for a modern player’s profile.
Performance
We tested the Mizuno ST-Z 220 driver with the help of Rick Hatfield. Rick is TGW’s Master Fitter and our resident product expert. Our golf driver testing was conducted indoors at the TGW Pure Performance Center using Foresight Sports launch monitors.
Rick’s average swing speed during this test was 102 mph which produced an average ball speed with this driver of 147 mph. Using the 9.5° driver, Rick’s average launch angle was 12.6° along with an average spin rate of 2,572 rpm. All together, he averaged 250 yards of carry distance with the ST-Z 220 driver.
Who It’s For

The Mizuno ST-Z 220 driver sets up square to slightly open with higher launch and low-to-mid spin performance geared toward the more skilled golfer who wants to hit a long, straight bomb rather than shaping their shot.
Appearance

The Mizuno ST-Z 220 has a glossy black finish that offers a traditional look both in the bag and set up behind the golf ball. It is not flashy, but rather a simple, powerful design to inspire confidence.
Feel & Sound
Just like golfers have come to rely on from Mizuno, the ST-Z 220 driver feels and sounds outstanding when you hit the golf ball.
